Colorado 2013

04/10/2013

The band recently returned from playing at the Longs Peak Scottish and Irish Festival in Estes Park, Colorado.

The festival ran from the 5th to the 8th of September and there were many events on show for the thousands of visitors that attended from all over the world. These included numerous displays and competitions on the field throughout the day to an evening tattoo, which was held in the Stanley Park Fairgrounds Arena.

After acclimatising to the effect of altitude on the instruments, the band performed many times both at the tattoo and at various points throughout each day. The band members always enjoy visiting their various clan tents and enjoy a photo opportunity and the toast of a ‘dram’ with fellow clansmen.

Alongside the band, there were other groups performing including the Band of America’s Few, Colonial Williamburg Fifes & Drums, Fountain City Brass Band, Bermuda Regimental Band and some local pipe bands from the Colorado area, Fort Collins, Queens City.

It was a great experience again for the band to be back out in Colorado, despite the length of travelling time it takes to reach this beautiful part of the world.

Many thanks again to all of the organisers who brought us over and looked after us for the duration of the trip!
