Cowal Games as ever are the last major championship of the competing season and the band remained dominant in the prizes by securing 6th place.
Overall in the Champion of Champions table the band finished in 3rd place making them the top Scottish pipe band for the 2011 season. A great achievement and a huge positive move in the right direction for next year.
Congratulations must go to the eventual winners who were also crowned Champion of Champions, The Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band from Northern Ireland.
Pictured below are the band preparing for the March Past where they joined the Stirlingshire Schools Pipe Band lead by our own piper Chris Gibb who is their Instructor/Pipe Major. The band joined the kids to ‘tune up’ playing a number of tunes under their direction before forming up to march on.
The look on their faces as more and more pipers and drummers from the ScottishPower Band joined them made it all worthwhile for the senior players. That’s what piping should be about - encouraging our youngsters to play their best to secure our art - that was the best result for us on the day!
