Donald Macleod Memorial Piping Competition

The annual Donald MacLeod Memorial Piping Competition which is organised by the Lewis and Harris Piping Society took place in Stornoway on Friday 1st April.

The Donald Macleod competition is an invitational competition for the world's top solo players to attend the Isle of Lewis, home of Donald Macleod (pictured above), to compete and play Piobaireachds, March, Strathspey and Reels and Hornpipe and Jigs, that were composed by the great man.

Pipe Major Chris Armstrong was one of the 8 players invited to compete and he was awarded 4th place the Piobaireachd event and 4th place in the March, Strathspey and Reel event. Well done to Chris for being invited and playing well at these top competitions.
