Dunfermline Pipe Band competition

25/05/2014

The ScottishPower Pipe Band started its 2014 competition season by heading to Fife and hitting the grass at the Dunfermline Pipe Band competition on Saturday 24th May.

Although not a huge Grade 1 entry (only 2 Grade 1 bands) the band used the contest to settle any preseason nerves ahead of the first major championship on 31st May. It also afforded them the opportunity to air their new medley which is already attracting many favourable comments from spectators and adjudicators alike.

The band finished in 2nd Place overall behind Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia, a clear split in the breakdown ended with ScottishPower taking both 1st Places in Piping and Shotts taking 1st in Drumming and Ensemble. Full summaries from all the grades can be viewed on the official RSPBA website

The band performance was recorded by the new PBTV - Pipe Band TV and can be viewed there on Youtube, so thanks to them.

More photographs taken on the day can be viewed on Flickr, this site will be updated as the season progresses.
