European Championships

02/08/2011

ScottishPower moved up one position from last year into 4th place at the European Pipe Band Championships on Saturday 30th July 2011.  Held in the grounds of Stormont Castle, Belfast they drew the 'Castle Dangerous' medley in glorious weather conditions.

The band continued with its consistent run of good performances this year and is growing in confidence and looking forward to the next competition in two weeks time - The World Pipe Band Championships.  Congratulations to the winners on the day, Field Marshall Montgomery, the full result as follows:

1st  Field Marshall Montgomery
2nd St Laurence O'Toole
3rd  Inveraray & District
4th  ScottishPower
5th  Fife Constabulary
6th  Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia

Well done must also go to our Drum Major Billy Jordan who finished 2nd place in the Adult Drum Majors section, a great result!

Belfast also saw the first outing of the new 'Tartan Bunnets'. The Tweed and now Tartan Bunnet have become a bit of an icon for the band.  What started as a bit of fun has now turned into a strong team-building exercise that has given the band an elusive edge that no other band has.  Love them or hate them, folk are talkin aboot the Bunnets!!
