European Championships 2012

Saturday 28th July took the band to Northern Ireland to compete for the European Pipe Band Championship, the third major championship of the 2012 season which was held for its last year in the grounds of Stormont, Belfast, where over 115 pipe bands competed on the day.

The discipline set for the Grade 1 bands at this Championship was the March, Strathspey & Reel. The band played its new set again for this year – The Conundrum, Tulloch Castle & Pretty Marion.

ScottishPower were delighted with their performance and we're very encouraged by the favourable comments made by the 'live stream' expert panel who gave feedback over the internet after hearing each band’s performance. The new drums also set tongues wagging and we were overwhelmed with great feedback about the look and sound of the new corp of drums.

Well done to everyone on a great performance and of course congratulations to Boghall & Bathgate on their win.

The band now looks forward to preparing for the ‘big one’ in a fortnights time, The World’s in Glasgow Green.

The Full Grade 1 result was as follows:

1st Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia
2nd Field Marshall Montgomery
3rd Inveraray & District
4th St Laurance O’ Toole
5th ScottishPower
6th Strathclyde Police

Best Drums – Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia
