The band started their competition season in style by winning the second annual Lomond and Clyde Grade 1 Invitational Competition. It was held in the main ballroom of the 5 Star Raddison Blu Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 19th March 2011.
The competition was split into two heats where the bands had to play a Medley of their own choice, with the winners from each heat then qualifying for the final. Each band came on to play a March, Strathspey and Reel of their own choice then later returned to the stage to play a Medley, again of their own choice.
ScottishPower played the MSR - Lord Alexander Kennedy, Blair Drummond and John Morrison of Assynt House and their Castle Dangerous Medley. The band went on to win both these events to secure their victory.
The competition was run under RSPBA rules however had a slightly different number of judges. Four piping, two drumming and two ensemble judges were in static front row seats to face, listen and mark the bands.
