Major Performance at first Major!

On Saturday 31st May at 3pm, ScottishPower Pipe Band marched up to the line to compete in the 2014 British Pipe Band Championships, held for the second year in Meadow Park, Bathgate.

First on, out of a field of twelve Grade 1 bands, they competed in near perfect conditions and produced one of their best performances to date.

The band played their No. 2 Medley selection which was captured by Dronechorus. Thanks to them for the quality recording.

Tunes – Song for the Chanter, Angus MacAskill of Bernera Harris, Anne Weir’s, Molendinar, Dornie Ferry, Troll on the Bar and Picnic in the Sky. The band finished in 4th Place overall and took great delight and confidence in winning the Piping section of the contest.

Congratulations of course must go to the eventual winners Field Marshall Montgomery from Northern Ireland, well done!

Drum Major Billy Jordan was also in the prize list finishing in 5th Place overall in the Adult Final. He is pictured above wearing the ScottishPower tartan trews receiving his trophy from Bathgate’s very own Susan Boyle who was the Chieftain.
