Jimmy Banks, an ex Pipe Major of the Scots Guards organises a knock-out piping competition during the winter months through in the Association's Club in Haymarket, Edinburgh. The competition invites two players to come and play against each other, with the winner going through to the next round.
Sunday 3rd April saw Craig Muirhead (pictured above) from ScottishPower being invited to play against Kevin McNulty. Competitors must play for 30 minutes and during their performance must include a March, Strathspey & Reel and a ground of a Piobaireachd. Craig played the ground of the classic tune The Old Men of the Shells and various Strathspeys & Reels and Jig sets to eventually win the heat and go through to the semi final.
Reports say that both players played extremely well and produced a fine afternoon of piping in the capital city. We wish Craig all the best for the next round.
