On Saturday 30th July over 25,000 spectators attended (for free) at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton for the RSPBA Scottish Pipe Band Championships. 141 bands and 48 Drum Majors in all were entered on the day to compete in the various grades.
The band were drawn first to play in their competition and had to also compete against some of the day’s weather. As rain fell and temperatures fluctuated it proved very challenging to say the least but despite these difficulties the band produced a solid performance and finished in 5th place overall.
It was the turn of the March, Strathspey & Reel discipline for Grade 1 and the band drew the following set which was also drawn in Belfast at the UK Championships:
March - Edinburgh City Police Pipe Band
Strathspey – Blair Drummond
Reel – John Morrison of Assynt House
You can listen to the performance again by clicking the link below. Our thanks as ever to Drone Chorus for allowing us to share his recordings
