Starting the year off on a high note, soloists from ScottishPower were placed very well across the board at the annual Duncan Johnstone Memorial Competition held at the National Piping Centre on Saturday 26th of March.
This competition is restricted to those pipers graded ‘B’ and ‘C’ by the Competing Pipers Association.
Winning the top prize of the day was David Sheddon, one of the new additions to the band this year. Also placed in this event were veteran pipers Chris Gibb and Keith Bowes, who were placed third and fourth respectively. Keith Bowes was also placed second in the ‘B’ Grade MSR and Gavin Ferguson also made an appearance in the prize list taking a fourth.
In the ‘C’ Grade MSR, Mael Sicard-Cras was placed fifth and finally in the combined ‘B’ and ‘C’ Grade Jig competition Derek Midgley took fourth place. Congrats to all the pipers and we look forward to more prizes in the future as the season progresses.
