21/10/2015

Glasgow Caledonian University was again host on Saturday 17th October for the RSPBA's final competition of the 2015 season. 184 snare drummers from all over the world attended to compete as did 44 tenor drummers for the International Solo Tenor Drumming Competition.

Pictured above are the ScottishPower Drummers who entered this year's event, from L to R, Anael Tanguy, Daniel Luby, Leading Drummer Jake Jorgensen, Alison Geal and James Craig.

Daniel finished in 3rd place in the Juvenile Section 5 - March, Strathspey & Reel and Alison also finished 3rd in the International Juvenile Solo Tenor Section 5 - March, Strathspey & Reel. Anael and James both qualified and made it through to the Adult semi-finals.

Congratulations of course must go to the band’s leading drummer, Jake Jorgensen for being placed 3rd overall in the Adult Final. A Top 3 position in the world is a fantastic achievement and his best result to date.

Well done to everyone who competed on the day and in particular to the overall Adult winner, Steven McWhirter, leading drummer of Inveraray & District, this his 5th win of the event.

The drummers would also like to express their thanks to their respective pipers who played for them throughout the day.
